THE THINGS YOU THOUGHT YOU KNEW ABOUT GRIZZLY BEARS
1. Grizzly bears can't climb trees.
Oh yeah.
Sure grizzlies can climb trees and they frequently do.
Here is an adult female grizzly enjoying a few apples in the fall.
In this photo she is about 12 feet off the ground.
2. Do bears s**t in the woods?
Some might. Not this bear.
This is, in fact, a BC provincial highway.
The bear had just spent plenty of time in the woods but decided, instead, to unload on the highway.
Is this what she thinks of the province's grizzly policies?
3. Hunters eat the food they kill.
Not the grizzly hunters. They leave the carcass to rot.
This is what a grizzly bear looks like when the hunters have finished with it.
They take the skin, the head and part of the penis, testicle or teat (provincial rules) and they leave the rest.
What does the government have to say? It's all perfectly legal. Encouraged even.
4. Politicians always go where the money is
Not according to Global TV. They recently investigated the trophy hunt and found that the economics of the hunt do not add up.
In fact there is far more money in bear-viewing these days.
So why are we killing them?Click below to see what the government has to say.
So who supports the hunt?
- Trophy hunters, a tiny minority
- This Liberal government.
And who opposes it?
- Most Liberal voters
- First Nations
- Environmental groups
- Most NDP voters
- The majority of those who hunt for food

There are two ways you can help:
- Either become a member of StoptheGrizzlyHunt.org. A $20 donation pays for a lifetime membership and the knowledge that you are helping to save these icons of the wilderness from an early death. Nobody in this campaign is being paid for their efforts and we promise to spend the money wisely and where it counts.
- Or, if you are short of cash right now, show your support by signing up to our newsletter.
- Finally, forward this page to a few or all of your friends. We need to get the bandwagon rolling. 78 percent of BC residents oppose the hunt. We need to get our voices heard.
